Second time this year the series of programs called “Olaszrizling October” focuses on “Olaszrizling”, a white grape variety produced on the largest area in Hungary.
“Olaszrizling As We Make It” will be organized again on 1-2 February 2014. The program – now extended to two days – will start on Saturday with the Giant Olaszrizling Tasting. In parallel with the tasting, a lecture will explain the connection between Olaszrizling and gastronomy.
“Olaszrizling” October will be presented first time this year; this event will concentrate on the most widely grown white grape variety of Hungary, the “olaszrizling” (Italian-Riesling).
On 19 October, in the morning, three master courses will be held in the Gerbeaud House in Budapest, before the start of the wine-tasting walk – dedicated to this variety – at 4 PM. The President of the Austrian Wine Academy, Josef Schuller Master of Wine and Kielmayer Kristian AIWS will compare Austrian and Hungarian olaszrizling, followed by the presentation of Dr. Gabriella Mészáros AIWS, who will explore the various characters of olaszrizling-s, furmint-s and chenin blanc-s offered in the product range of Terra Hungarica. Finally, István Jásdi, one of the most significant winemakers of the Balatonfüred–Csopak region, will analyze the impact of various localities on wines, needless to say, on the variety of olaszrizling. Following the afternoon and evening wine-tasting walk, visitors can participate in a wine party, which will be held in the NU bistro, from 10 PM until the early hours of the next day.
