Hungarian wine among the 10 best Chardonnay

This year started very well for Hungarian winemakers. After the success of “Görögszó” cuvee of Tamás Dúzsi in Paris, the “Buda Chardonnay 2014” from Nyakas Cellar reached the Top 10 of Chardonnay du Monde – first time for a Hungarian wine.

The Chardonnay du Monde Wine Contest is one of the most highly-regarded international competition of Chardonnay wines and champagnes. Entries are judged by an international panel of 300 judges, half of them from France. One third of the wines could be awarded.

In 2015 826 samples have been nominated from 41 countries; 275 medals (56 gold, 196 silver, 23 bronze) were awarded. “Buda Chardonnay 2014” from Nyakas Cellar reached the Top 10 of Chardonnay du Monde. In addition, gold medal was awarded to “Battonage Monopole 2012” from Kovács Nimród Winery and to “Egri Chardonnay Battonage 2013” from Thummerer Vilmos.
