Auction Number 2.
The Great Tokaj Wine Auction will be held on Saturday 26th April 2014 in the Castle of Sárospatak. After the great success of April 2013, where 67 500 € were gathered by the sale of 13 lots, the second Auction will once again showcase the range produced in this white wine region. The auction will also be conducted by telephone.
The Confrérie de Tokaj has once again reserved lots from some of the best producers of the region. These are unique lots chosen by the producers in their cellar in very little quantity: a Gönci barrel (the traditional Tokaj barrel), that is 136 litres. Eszencia will be offered as 10 litres. As for the 2013 Auction, the Confrérie Wine Tasting Committee esponsible for checking and supervising the wines will assure the exemplary quality of lots presented at the Tokaj Wine Auction.
For the benefit of the Tokaj landscape.
Beyond the pleasure of offering exclusive new releases of Tokaj, the aim of the Auction is to help to rebuild the viticultural landscape of the region, that spreads between Abaújszántó, Sátoraljaújhely and Tokaj and covers the slopes of the Zemplén mountains. Tokaj is a World Heritage Cultural Landscape since 2002 and deserves to be preserved. We hope you will be able to join us for this beautiful event.
Tokaj, five centuries of history.
Tokaj was the first appellation to be designated four
centuries ago. It’s undoubtedly one of the great wine regions in the world. Situated in the north-east of Hungary, 260 kilometres from Budapest, today it offers a wide range of styles and expressions of crus, in both dry and sweet wines.
Tokaj Spring and its auction is the most important rendez-vous of the year and gives all wine lovers the opportunity to discover this richness and the latest creations.
La Confrérie de Tokaj.
La Confrérie de Tokaj aims to reposition Tokaj as the treasure it is. The Confrérie serves as an umbrella organisation for the best of the region’s producers, who believe in terroir and the unique character of these white wines. It’s open to all friends of wine and professionals who wish to participate in the evolution of the region. The Confrérie organises regular meetings called Tokaj Rendez-Vous and lunches once a month to which all the members and wine lovers are invited.
