 This annual festival used to be organized on the third weekend of each September in Szekszard, one of the nicest hillside cities of Dunantul.Not only traditional winemaking methods will be presented along this year’s Harvest Parade, but folklore programs, Wine Court plays, competitions, exhibitions, concerts, literary events and an arts and craft market will entertain people visiting this historical wine region of Hungary. 38 cellars from Szekszard and County Tolna will offer their excellent wines along the Street of Wines. This year the Wine Tourism Cluster of South-Dunantul will also offer samples of white wines from the Pécs Wine Region. 8 winemakers will be introduced in this year’s wine seminars, where discussions will be followed by representative wine tasting. 2012. September. 8. Tokaj-Hegyalja Market (Mushrooms into the Basket!) is on the second Sunday of the Month, 9th September at the Sárga Borház Restaurant on the Disznókő Estate.
As the name suggests, mushrooms are in focus this time. In Tokaj fungus has a special role in the Aszú-making process, one of the reasons we respect it so much. And, as the untouched forests of the Zemplén Mountains provide a home for many species, the noble shroom is a typical feature of local dishes. |
The XXI th Wine Festival in the Buda Castle 2012
2012. August. 28. 220 winemakers from 15 countries will wait for visitor in the Buda Castle between 12 and 15 September.Junibor – Association of Young Winemakers – will be the VIP Guest of the Festival. 28 well-known young winemakers from 10 national wine regions, all of them committed to produce high-quality wines, will provide entertainment in the Lion’s Court. This year the Wine Festival will be launched with a concert of world music. The unique Hungarian HeartBeats program, to be presented on 7 September in the MOM Cultural Center, will introduce the rich cultural and musical diversity which thrives on the traditions of the Hungarian dance house movement. Cymbal will play pivotal role in the event, a unique instrument to be used for presenting traditional gypsy and Hungarian peasant folk music. VIP Guest: Croatia. Furmint Festival at Mad 2012
2012. August. 21. This year the Wine Festival will be held on 7-8 September, where not only the excellent wines of the Mád Wine Region – covering the area of largest vineyards on the Tokay Hills (with World Heritage listing) – but also furmints (a dry white wine specialty) of several other regions will be presented.
Winemakers of the Mád Circle will hold wine tasting in connection with touring the hillside vineyards. The tour will include the demonstration of secret winemaking methods. Several cellars will open their doors to the public; they will offer not only fine wines but also exhibitions, concerts and other exciting programs. The Yellow Wine House will be open on Sunday, 9 September. The Tokay Hills Market will also attract visitors with presenting local products and arts and crafts. |
Erdobenye Wine Festival 2012
2012. August. 13. The 3-day festival called “Wine, Ecstasy … Bénye”, one of the most exciting gastro-cultural event in County Zemplén, will be held at the fourth time on 17-19 August in Erdőbénye, where winemakers from the village present their wines to the public.This festival – unique in Tokaj-Hegyalja – will offer opportunities for young jazz and folklore artists and will host several exhibitions and children programs. During this long weekend local vineyards will be open to the general public, where not only wines, but also gourmet food will be available, offered by famous restaurants of the region.
